In The Beginning...

Hello Dear Readers!

As this is the inaugural post of this BLOG, lets get a little background information out of the way. My wife Penny and I have been planning this for quite sometime now, and now is the time. Although I am still employed at AT&T, and will be for the next 10 days, are plan was simple:

  1. Put our house up for sale.
  2. Purchase a suitable RV for us to live in.
  3. Purchase a suitable vehicle to pull said RV.
  4. Hit the road.
Well, we put the house on the market officially on July 13th, we had 5 people come look at it that first day, the first two making offers. We accepted one of them and now have a closing date of August 7th. We found a sweet 37' 2008 Cedar Creek 5th wheel camper in great condition along with a 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 to pull it with. So items 1, 2, and 3 are pretty much complete, and item 4 is just around the corner.

Our first stop will be Hico Texas to see some friends we've met on one of our camping vacations in the past Tom & Jo. From there we'll head of for a quick visit to Livingston Texas to get our new mailing address so all of our snail mail will have a place to go. After that, North Carolina here we come! There we will see Penny's daughter Miranda and granddaughter Lexi. We're bringing them some things from the house for safe keeping. We will also have the opportunity to visit Penny's brother Ken, and her son Brian, as well as his 4 sons Jackson, Ryan, Collin and Owen.

Washington state is where we're headed next with a few planned stops in between. Normal Illinois to see my brother John and his family, Watertown South Dakota to see my sister Liz and her family and Estes Park Colorado to see Penny's cousin Andrea and her family. Then on to Kennewick Washington to visit her nephew J.W.

Other than that we have no itinerary to speak of. We plan on doing maybe 300 miles a day, stop when we want, where we want and see what we want. Along for this journey will be our three boys, Wonder an 85lb blind boxer, Chobie a 13 yr old chihuahua mix and our newest addition, Squeaky a 2 yr old dachshund mix. We expect to have lots of adventures, very few misadventures, although we know those are apart of any journey, and hope you all keep up with us.

See you down the road!

  2. Sue and I are happy for you and Penny. Though we have been living the RV life for only 3 very short months, we do not regret our decision. Enjoy your trip and visits and we will see you down the road.
